        i picked a new laptop from dell the 6400 models seem to be the better for screen size spec and cost.

        came with 2gb ram and the choice of either vista or XP plus all the other stuff i needed runs actinic with no problems actually faster than my desktop?

            Thanks guys n gals....

            Following the various ideas and suggestions I thought sod it .... racked up the credit card bill with a dual core desktop and a dual core laptop so have the best of all worlds (trying to convince Mrs Jont the laptop is really for her )

                  With regaqrds to mrs Jont, i used the excuse that i can sit with you and do my work while your watching tv

                              Perhaps you should have bought 2 laptops instead?
                              We used 2 laptops. Mostly because we transport them from home to office/shop and back again each day.
                              The PC gets booted up once in a while if the kids want to play..otherwise it's just gathering dust!
