We have 4 cats, they are all in tip top shape.
The mother of the other 3 keeps herself to herself.
The other three spend much of their time with each other, sleep together, eat together etc.
About 18 months ago, piss started appearing by the front door (coir mat in built into floor). It appeared to be one of them in particular who seemed to suddenly dislike using the cat litter tray. We tried to teach her not to and it was intermittent success at best.
8 months ago i bought a new back door and had a cat flap fitted, this solved the problem after training them on how to use it and the problem vanished. 2 months ago it started again and last night i set up 2 cctv cameras on the area to find out which one it is. Typically, noone pissed last night, so the vigil starts again tonight.
We have tried pepper, cat repellant, tin foil, bollockings, taking them to the litter tray etc. nothing has permanently sorted it out. Once a month i spend £40 on a new coir mat and it annoys the living fk out of me.
They are all female, i'm adamant it is one of 2 possibles, camera will sort that out, i want my cats to have free reign in the house, but not if they slash on my coir mat and not in the litter tray or back garden.
They all are very happy, healthy cats, always playing, coming to see you for fuss and always purring. I'd be astonished to find out they are unhappy. We do have 2 male cats that seem to come and visit and leg it out opf the cat flap when they see us, i can only summise at the moment that these tossers are affecting them territorially. My master blaster water pistol has made one of these males very wary about coming in, the other arrogant git, kind of laughs as you spray him and then comes back in 5 mins later.
It makes my blood boil, only ever at night it happens, they never piss in the day ever, hence the CCTV, which is meant to be setup ready in the nursery.

Just a thought - you & Mrs Lee are expecting a baby soon, wonder if the cat has picked up on this or if there are lots of new things coming into the house, for the new arrival, hence lots of new and unfamiliar smells and that is upsetting the cat - they can be very strange and sensitive creatures!
Be interesting to see what the cameras show.
