    problem with forum titles

i had a crazy idea about how to deal with it, and the lack of topical data in forum post titles, and i had a brainwave.

it might be a silly one, and it might not even work but, heres what i came up with.

bear in mind all you critics out there, that its OBVIOUSLY not any sort of finished idea. its something i cobbled together in minutes.

Are you taking bets on how many posts will go into the default list setting? I am waging 95%. A thread title of "HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" would be a popular choice.

yeh...like the &age of customers who fill my "how found" drop down list option with the "Please select" answer

Maybe the default should read "I am a moron"?

The forum is worse than it has ever been at the moment. Now sometimes you have to get worse to get better, but this is just on a big ice block on the edge of a hill at the moment.

Face it people, actinic do not give enough of a sh@@ to get it sorted out. Rumour has it, there is a 3-day management seminar to see if the header colour should be lightened a little.

Too much red tape from people who have no idea about using the bloody thing, just like the developers versus users issue on the software.

                  thats a bit harsh!
Granted it's not all happened quite as it maybe should... but Actinic's first priority should be to sort out their software and their software support (which is....how can I tactfully say?....lacking at times)

The forums have to take third place to both of these, surely?

Maybe they don't have enough staff to handle the forums as well as we'd all like.. but where do you spend your money...more staff for development/support...or extra staff for the forum?

It's a fine line, I suppose. IMO, the only way the forum can get " fixed" the way it could work best would be to put someone on it permanently, for a short while, to sort it out.

I just doubt that's going to happen.

They could get rid of some support staff and employ developers instead, if their greatest asset wasn't such a mess?

They've admitted that it has slipped, they've admitted the KB has slipped. They have too much to do and now they have more. They spend too much time doing too many things in an average manner. Lessen the load and do some things great instead.

There are quite a few people who have volunteered to be mods and help them, people who could handle the power (i couldn't btw) and yet we've heard nothing about that. I don't understand the control of it all, they want to control something they care little about? it's all arse upwards, let people who care about or have time for the forum, not somebody whose announced he's moving to pastures new for a while. I'm surpised the guy can walk with the amount of brooms shoved up his rectum.

Noticed how this always gets side-stepped?

                              I have noticed that too

editted to add... I understand Actinic's reluctance to "hand over" the forums but something's got to give if they're ever going to work effectively
