    LOGO Design

OK carrying on from another thread

LOGO Design, I have done a search and not found anything, i still prefered the actinic search mind, another story for another day.

Can anyone recommend someone that would be happy to undertake a logo design, i am not looking for some massive corporate branding type thing just a professional logo.

or how would you go about creating your own logo

    Cheers
    Darren

        i love this forum.

its the only place i go on the web, where its a dead cert that people will pull you up on any error you make, typographically.

jont, you're a beast for it sir.

        a beast on fire.

i typically start with a pen and paper, and an idea of what the company is about.

take your company name. and think about your client base.

is your customer base safe? or dynamic? colourful? professional? a mixture of several of these?

what would they respond to? something sleek, and stylised?

what you really want is something that is composed of recognisable shapes, and not rely on words too much. look at the apple logo. great example. simple shape, full of rainbows and its evolved over the years, to become style. solid grey.

i'd not rely too much on lettering, unless your typeface is instantly recognisable.

dont use the crappy fonts that get bundled with word. dont use wordart. use solid shapes, and subtle interplays on the characters.

take a look at the microsoft logo. the linkage between the middle characters. this sets the logo apart from other simple typographic logos.

dont make your logo tall. i think they look crap.

square or long is best. easier to integrate into other designs.

          food for thought.

ring the local college and see if they want a project for their design btec - the most well know logo in the world was designed by an intern ....

We did them all the time for local companies when I was at uni .... know that was a long time ago but the principle remains the same. Bright minds free labour

most agencies will prob. charge you more than it will cost to buy photoshop and have a go yourself ... you have a whole host of consumers here waiting to vote the best one I'm sure!

Reminds me of a that saying when i was younger "theres a party in my pants and you all invited" - never did work well as a chat up line - wonder why

Try dropping the "all" part ... the whole group thing can be off putting to some of a quieter disposition.
