    Digital Downloading... auto saving PDF's...

I had a customer.... yes a customer... using Firefox and he purchased 20 digital products.

As a new customer I contacted him for feedback and he indicated that the digital process was good accept for the faffing open saving every file.

He then went on to say that then he set his browser default to automatically save PDF's, and therefore tickety boo!

    Q. Can you do this in IE? Is it a good recommendation to my future customers?

    What do you think, S?

This is easy in FF but I don't think you have the option in IE. You might want to remind customers though that can right click on a link and select to save the file.

I don't think you should recommend to customers that they dig into their browser security or content options, that would baffle most visitors and might scare them away.

My understanding was you have to do it from within Acrobat (theres a display PDF in browser option somewhere).

Why don't you consider supplying them zipped instead?

I presumed it was a FF thing.... and I agree about recommending things to clients - I am bound to get into more problems than resolve!

        ------------------------

The client asked the same about zipping.

Presumably I'll need a bolt on program to zip up the selected files into a single package, as I don't want to manually configure orders?

        Anything about?

I would be amazed if this could be done .. to cherry pick say 12 files from a longer list - zip only those together and then email through to the buyer once they have paid - the amount of talking between the Actinic order, the PSP and then the utility to ZIP them will be stunningly complex.

Saying that .. where's Norman and Gabe when you need them??

Jont, I think we dabbled with this early in my dev, and if I recall it was as difficult as you indicate.

However, i am open to suggestions, butwill stick with single files for now as it also helps with sending passwords, as I use the order shipped e-mail template as the password send template, etc etc.
