    Your Top 3 V8 Memories

Although V9 is still some way off, i was just chuckling to myself thinking back to 12 months ago on some of the things that happened to us with the V8 launch. Things that just pass by nowadays like water off a ducks back.

Name your top 3 memories of V8 from the start, don't use this as a thread to have a bitch though, we've all gotta try and look forward, i'm just interested to see what everyone recalls. Also name your favourite V8 feature(s).

    My Top 3 Memories Are:
    1. 'Used Out of Context Errors' - they so blew my mind at the start.
    2. Blockifs - avoiding these like the plague for so long until i had to finally use them and within 30 minutes i loved them and use them all the time now.
    3. Apply a new clean V8 theme, don't try and upgrade a heavily amended site - think this was the buzz sentence for at least the first 5 months.

    Favourite Feature(s):
    1. Dreamweaver Integration
    2. Marketing Lists
    3. Design Tab & Blockifs

    Top Three Memories :

    1) Trying to implement UDPs in my software, not easy
    2) Being able to write a couple of design snippets that got added to the aug
    3) Getting my new V8 website for Mole End, that was very nice.

    Favourite Features :

    1) New Design - much easier to understand than templates for me
    2) Variables and Content Categories, very powerful tools.
    3) Mailing Lists ... but I'm biased on that one.

      Memories:
Meeting some of the forum members at the first training course. (Pity I didn't have more time to spend with everyone)
Being totally confused as to how to use it. (It took a long time for the penny to drop)
      Bugs (Enough said)

      Features:
Design View & External Designs. (So easy to add your own design)
Blockifs. (What would we do without them now?)
PHP integration. (Not that I'm any good at PHP!)

Going back and working with v7 after v8 is really difficult and it's only then that you realise how much harder it was.

        Memories:
When I first upgraded our v7 and realised how much work I had to do
Knowing I was going to love the block ifs but refusing to learn anything about them for ages
What tinkering with v8 has taught me, both about Actinic but especially my vastly improved css/html skills

        Features:
Design Tab - I have the Power!
        Marketing
PHP and how it can be manipulated to control design stuff like restricting the length on text etc
        Cheers

Hey Jan, you don't get away with that little sentence so easily! Have we at last found someone using them, please do enlighten us. Is this from our discussion in the wishlist forum?

I am yet to meet someone using them, has the holy grail been found?

                        Top 3 memories

1 the passion and frustration in the community
2 kicking and screaming to get decent DW and CSS integration, and then never using it since 8.5
3 the training day, (night out before with ChrisD, Josh and other attendees, waiting in the hotel carpark for an hour the following morning - waiting for Bill to wake up - and nearly missing breakfast - not good on a hangover)

                        Best Bits

1 being able to do anything I want
2 being given cover whether i wanted it or not, and then using it ALL the time
                        3 community help, bolloxing Actinic

                          Our memories are still happening

I do remember struggling to get my head around it so much that I gave up and back to Actinic school after which the light shineth clearly.
I remember the feeling when we found out that our 7.5 MU site would not upgrade to to 8.X and we had to start over.
We all remember, and still are, the first time we tried to do an upload.

But there are some best bits - these look like a top 3.

I do like the new design interface.
The DW integration until it broke with CS3 was great.
The community help and spirit - perseverance will get us there in the end.

I don't use them actually, my sites don't need them because everything is the same of a similar type. They will be used more when people use variables more ... actually I will be able to use them on my jewellry site because I want to build up the description detail from variables, so I can have a content category or watches that has variables such as battery type, movement type etc and one for bracelets that has varaibles such as bead type, chain type etc. Woohoo, I can use content categories :-)
