    Problems with cheap recordable disks

I no doubt guess that many of us have bought from this website before but can anyone tell me why their discs are total crap?

They may be cheap but all the ones I've ever bought are total and utter shite!

I am absolutely peed off with Nero spitting out the discs...............ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHH

No longer will I be buying from them

    Ahhhhh, rant over.......................thanks

Never believed in buying el-cheapo disks ... the few pence saved in terms of those ending up as beer coasters on the desk or frisbee'd at passing scroats from the bedroom window is false economy ... saying that ... I would have to throw an ornament at them instead so they are probably saving me money... bring on cheapo disks

If you bought, Datawrite, Datasafe, Ridisc, Tuffdisc, Rivision, CMC, Samsung(!) and probably a few more then they are essentially the same discs, repackaged by one company. Sometimes they are not the best but it's the majority of the UK market. Just like crappy Ford, Vauxhall and Rover cars find most buyers, so do the crappy media brands. Why is this? Dunno.

Have you emailed BP about this? You might want to make sure your firmware is up to date as well.

There are some good bargains out there at the mo. Panasonic media seems cheap and most of it is TY or MCC. Maxell is usually good value. What you really want to buy is Verbatim and stick to it. You won't be sorry.

I only wish our customers chose Verbatim every time. Unfortunately, the bulk of the market want to spend 30% less for something that is less than half as good. Big Pockets, like us, can't ignore that and would face oblivion if they did. Even SVP, the whitest of the white are now pushing bargain basement CMC cello packs where you will be lucky to get 80% success!

As I said, I got RIdisc which are total shite (I'm peed off with the 100 crap discs) but in saying that, YES, I do have Robert Maxwell discs and have no propblem, so why, I say WHY do people buy total trash jank cheap makes?........................arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh

Never, ever, ever, ever, again will I do this

there is no point emailing BP or sending the shite back, it'd cost more to do so, simply a lesson learnt IMO

DON'T by non brands unless you're a dick like me............................!

Yes, I said DICK LIKE ME!

                  doh!

                  ............................

Sorry but you get what you pay for, i get this all day with plastics - in the end you sell people the stuff knowing it aint right because you try to tell them and they know best.

As for disks, i have a dvdr that wrecks disks and one that does not, so it aint always the disks

You're right Darren, writer have a limited lifespan and then will start to kill discs. For the sake of £20, it's worth upgrading if you can do the work yourself.

Kev, I assume you are using DVD-R. If you can burn it, try DVD+R. It's the better format and we get far less trouble with it. Don't listen to the keyboard heroes on this one. Take it from someone who shifts literally millions of discs a year.

                          that's interesting to know, Steve.
The majority of single format writers we seem to have are -R so that's what discs we have here.
I've never successfully managed to write to a DVD-R on either my laptop or the PC at home yet, always thought it was me..perhaps it's various makes of crappy discs then.
The downstairs DVD recorder is a bit picky too but both that and my laptop will do +R too so I'll hunt some down.
                          Cheers for that

Steve - since you are being helpful, can you answer this one.

My DVD recorder/rewriter (for TV) - seemly will only use DVD-RW+ thats what i was told when i bought it. The original disks are now naffed (except one) , but i've never yet managed to buy a disk that will record. so now if I want to record from the telly to dvd RW i can only use one disk.

                              Why?

I can't download from the tv drive to dvd either, it says its doing it but i end up with a blank disk.

Doh I can do compluters but i can't do telly.
