    New Employee Payroll Advice

    I cannot find a definative answer on HMRC website.

    Basically i've got a Saturday Girl starting, first job for her, so no P45

    I've got as far as knowing that I need to use emergency Tax Code 522L but how do I know if I should use the Week 1/Month 1 Basis ?

    I'd appreciate anyone's knowledge on this.

    Give employee a P46 (starting job with no P45 form).

    If this is her first job she will tick box A.

    Use emergency code on cummulative basis, not week1/month 1.

      I filed the P46 online but after an hour browsing HMRC still could find that page.

        HMRC website is packed with info, but the navigation isn't always intuitive, and sometimes leads you round in circles.

        The quickest way (and how I found the link I posted), is as with a lot of things (incl this forum funnily enough) use Google.

        I googled "taking on a new employee".

        Are you sorted, or you need further advice?
