Postage Problems and Advice Please

Hi Everyone

Once again Royal Mail are striking so I think its time to look at other options.

We sell clothing on our site so the packages are not very big or heavy, and at the moment we send out about 75 items per day. Most of them are First Class Recorded but about 25 are Special Next Day deliverys.

We are still at the stage of taking the post to the post office and getting each parcel weighed and spending about an hour in the post office! We have recently looked into Packetpost but there seems to be alot you have to fill in every day so just wondering if anyone has got any advice other companies which they find easy to use and that will same us some money!

With that kind of consistent volume you should be getting all your local carriers in and bartering for a good deal. In excess of 1k items per month will get you a good deal compared with the RM IMHO.

Many good firms out there such as City Link, Interlink Express....

Hi Everyone

We have recently looked into Packetpost but there seems to be alot you have to fill in every day !

We fill in one form in the docket about 1 minute, Weigh each bag about 1 min each, Tie a label on each bag and seal 1 min

For signed for we just use Jans intergrated labels (2 labels) one goes on the packet the other goes in the signed for book another min

75 a day and you taking to the PO? Wow. Go PPI Packetpost as soon as you can. It's very easy. Total wieght divided by total number and then whack into epro at the end of the day and thats it. You should also get a free collection on that volume surely.

We use a bus account with RM and PPI our mail and log it all online. We switched about 3 months ago and it is so much easier. Everything is on account as well - which helps! We also use DHL @ home service. Excellent home delivery service very competitive and perfect for the sort of thing you do I would have thought. Can be a 48hr hour or 24hr service, we use for 48 and I'd say about 90% + are down in a day. All tracked online.
