    Affiliate program links

I've recently opened a new site using Actinic, and to get customers to come to my site, I've subscribed to a couple of affiliate link sites and webrings. Trouble is, when I try to put the links into my site, Actinic doesn't read them - I've tried image links and text links, but no joy.

I've put them in manually using Dreamweaver, but again, when I come to upload them, Actinic doesn't recognise them, or I get 'target="self"' above and below the image that the link is supposed to be attached to.

    Any ideas, anyone?

      Hi Pinbrook

Yeah - they all come in the following image format:

      <a href="http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=3017&a=920343&g=17846" target="_blank"><img src="http://impgb.tradedoubler.com/imp/img/17846/920343" border=0></a>

      or as a text format:

      <script language="JavaScript" src="http://impgb.tradedoubler.com/imp/19561/923831" charset="ISO-8859-1"></script>

the only one that differs comes like this:

      <IMG SRC="http://service.bfast.com/bfast/serve?bfmid=29395190&siteid=40666004&bfpage=home-sm" BORDER="0" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="1" NOSAVE >
      <A HREF="http://service.bfast.com/bfast/click?bfmid=29395190&siteid=40666004&bfpage=home-sm" TARGET="_top"><IMG SRC="http://shopping.discovery.com/befree/gallery/disco_store_white_120x6.gif" BORDER="0" WIDTH="120" HEIGHT="60" ALT=""></A>

What I'm asking is: where do I stick it? I've tried putting it in a number of places on my links pages, but it goes skewiff every time.

      Any ideas?

      Ta,

I would cut and paste the code into a fragment.

and place !!< html here >!! around the code

          Hi

I've done that (and used fragments) and when I upload it, around the image/text I get "target="self" appearing either above or below it.

          This is my major problem.

              Hi Jo

              Yes, take a look at:

              http://www.online-relics.com/acatalog/Links.html.

The second link - Past Times has been done as a fragment containing a text link.

You can see that it says "target="self"". Funny thing is, nowhere in the link is the words "target=self".

              Whaddya think?

I don't get the 'target=self' reference. I see the link as being:

                http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=3017&a=923831&g=19561

...which I'm guessing is correct. Have you made a change?

                  Hi Chris

                  Nope. not a sausage.

I've managed to get the text links to work, but what I was really trying to do (for consistency's sake) was to get the images to contain the link, and the text to just contain waffle (if you know what I mean?).

Hmm - it looks as if the target="self" comes from the application and not from 'Design | Text'. This means that it is not possible to get at it and change it.

My only suggestion is to edit the brochure layout template to create a new one which has the 'Past Times' logo in it hard-coded.

You can then use a link with target="blank" in it to pop it open into a new window.

                      Affilliate program links

                      Hi Chris.

Thanks for your advice, but I found it a little complicated. I've done a lot of work on the template to customise and personalise it, so I really don't want to start messing it up just to put some links in.

I've basically done a hybrid - those that are simple to add links to the images, I've done. Those that are being problematic, I've added text links. At least they all work to a greater or lesser extent.

                      Thanks for your help.
