Future Media Actinic Email

Did I give Actinic permission to give my email address to 3rd party companies? I certainly don't remember doing so, as I never do.

I love the bit at the end about "outgrown actinic? why not move to a bespoke ecommerce platform".

I'm surprised at actinic on 2 counts. 1, allowing this email to go out and 2, allowing it to go out with this content.

The funny thing is that looking at the email address they've used it isn't one that Actinic have so I assume they're spamming.

It's just strange as it's covered with actinic logo's and starts off with a quote from Bruce Townsend. It's even titled 'Actinic Announcement'.

I am really surprised that Actinic are allowing a partner company to do this and think they should be 'struck off' the partner list.

Using their name etc in this manner could well open up a whole can of worms!

So I have spoken to Future Media and they confirmed that they did take my email address off the internet and that the email is unsolicited. Not good enough really is it?

I would send a very firm email explaining your distain and cc Actinic into it.

Spam is spam after all is said an done. And if you never traded with them, did not ask for this or tell actinic they can use it then it is spam.

I also received one for one of my sites. It was sent to the contact email address from a v8 site.

There's no announcement - it's just an unsolicited spam email.
It's misleading however in that it looks at first as if it's from Actinic.

Looked official at first glance, nothing that the delete option couldn't handle though. Interesting use of Bruce's quote.... did he get a cheeky bung?

As you say, deleting it is easy. I was just shocked at first that Actinic gave out my email address (they didn't as it turns out) as I never tick the box marked 'Please send spam emails from trusted 3rd parties'.

I hope Bruce Townsend's been on the ball here as the reply I got from Actinic suggests Chris B isn't impressed with this.
