    Click Throughs

Not sure if what I am after is possible so I thought I may as well ask.

I have a website which is forum based.

There is a portal page. Which people are redirected to when they type in the URL.

There is a banner which is clicked upon to vote for the site.

We need more votes to get above 3rd place.

Is there any way to alter the redirect html script so that people are still redirected to the portal page BUT also somehow are redirected to the voting site the redirected back again to the portal page.

The site needs a coded url to be used. All the site needs is for that url to be clicked upon for the vote to be counted.

People are hessitant to click a banner for the votes to be added. I just wanted a sly way for them to vote without realising it.

    Is this possible?

The answer is no. Once someone has left your site you have no control over them.

You could open the voting page in a pop-up, but that's usually a turn-off for visitors. The modern way would probably be to create a floating graphic asking people click on it and vote for your site.

PS. People aren't fools and I really wouldn't recommend 'sly' ways of doing things.

I suppose you could have the voting URL open in a new browser instance (target="_blank")...that way the vote would be counted, and when they close that browser, your site will still be open in the browser behind!

      Not particularly elegant mind.
