Banner/Header Creation

Hi all,

I was wondering what any of you would recommend (free preferably) to create banners and headers for the top of my site? I see lots of really nice ones about and would like to create some for my site now I am starting to get products on.

Get one made professionally, realistically you are not going to be able to create a good one like those you see. It's so cheap to get a professionally designed logo now, a bit silly to look elsewhere. It's a very important part of your site, don't skimp and put some crappy effort up. Design contests in some forums means you can get one designed for about $150 nowadays, which is an absolute steal.

Hi Lee,

got the logo sorted already, just wanted to maybe create a small banner for Xmas or the like with a brief message and maybe a picture or two. I do appreciate a professionally produced one would probably look much better but for a new start up paying is not really an option at present.

Just wondered if there were any recommendations for free software at all from anyone.
