Not good, could it be volume of users on the entire network?

I can't see that making a difference, it was fine till just after lunchtime. It's too much of a coincidence that there were reported 1and1 problems at that time so it must be related.

Must be some IP routing or something beyond my comprehension anyway. I suppose I'll have to wait till tomorrow - I can't get online to report the problem to 1and1 anyway. Hopefully whatever's wrong will be ok tomorrow.

Looking at Duncan's link to The Register, I saw a comment there re. Fasthosts' FTP. I haven't been able to ftp UP to my fasthosts server all afternoon.

But I can still download orders - I thought that used ftp?

I can't see Fasthosts support but the guy who supplies my webspace says it has a message about disruption due to maintenance for one hour from shortly after 1pm. So did they know the problem was coming or was it them what broke it?

BTW I can see Duncans' sites on a Demon ISP.

I found the phone number (0870 21 11 247) and they say they are aware that certain ISPs cannot yet see there servers and are working to fix the problem but have no ETA as yet.

They asked who my ISP was (told them VM) and they confirmed that there are still problems with requests from that ISP.

So I guess I've just got to wait.

yup, no issues here today Duncan...

time to catch up. Was looking into their dedicated service before this, still thinking hard, got many sites to migrate, may go for a reseller, still unsure which path to go. Still, thoughts for another day...

having just spent the whole morning fart arsing around trying to sort out why I couldnt connect (i thought I'd just screwed the server I was installing)I eventually got to speak to an (1&1) eskimo via a bean can and a bit of string who very very quietly told me that virgin media had blocked their ip range, although virgin medias support (another super quiet, distorted person a billion miles away) told me he knew nothing about it, this was obviously after the 20min (£10!!!) support call that told me it was my fauilt.

I've tried searching and this was the only bit of news I found ( for some reason I cant connect to news.google either).

sorry just had to rant - nothing of any real use here...... o hum red wine it is then.....

                                So there you have it.
