This would indicate to me that you can if you use software to simulate a PC - I don't think there is a ctually a MAC version...

If the prices are that good then call Actinic Support and get clarification.

I'm looking to buy a Macbook in early 2008 - rumours are that a very sexy new version will be announced in January. I personally think it's too risky to buy in the US unless you are absolutely sure that Apple in the UK will fully support it - Macs are not faultless and there are many reports on the net of people having to take new machines back to the Apple store. The new Mac machines (Leopard) can boot either as Mac OSX or Windows (you have to buy whichever verision of Windows you fancy), or you can use software like Parallels to run Windows programs alongside OSX programs, which is probably the best option day to day.

PS the current Macbook Pro has just been measured as the fastest laptop in the world at running Windows Vista

Make sure it has a universal power supply som american ones only have 112 volt psu

Dont forget windows has much more software and normally cheaper software

Try asking for fact not hype on the difference between the two systems as many mac type actions have been copied by microsoft systems

Knew I was part of a similar conversation a while back.

According to Alistair (post#'s 4 & 8) you should have no worries provided you install parallels.

I never got round to purchasing a Mac... hmm, must ask the wife to do some last minute Christmas shopping me thinks.

Thanks for all the help. I have put the mac idea to bed as i think there is a lot of "hype" around them. Will be looking at a HP or a Sony one

            Thanks for all your input

I love Sony laptops, but I have to say that 3 out of the last 5 we have had needed to be sent away for repair (cooling fans and screen hinges) and the 4th has a screen hinge which is looking likely to fail. This is not the end of the world, but it involves Sony couriering a box to us, which we then put the PC in, and then wait for another courier to come and pick it up for delivery to continental Europe, where it stays for about 10 days. Also, Sony support is notoriously difficult to communicate with. I have never had an HP, but if their support was demonstrably better before purchase I would be tempted to have a go. If you haven't "experienced" Vista yet, I suggest you try it out first. This operating system is the sole reason I'm moving to Apple.

PS if you are still in the US, be very careful about purchasing Sony over there - my understanding is that warranty/support etc doesn't cover Europe - check it out first. Can't speak for HP.
