Online Booking System & Actinic

OK I have searched around and can not find anything, im sure this has been mentioned before but maybe im imagine things or hoping.

Im looking for a online booking system, it does not need to be complex but what it needs to do is.

Allow people to book appoinments on particular days at particular times. Now depending on what they are booking for depends on the time avaliable and length of time there appointment will be.

it needs to be online, so a database will be needed, i have noooooo database experience so this is not something i can create, i found a solution online but alas have ben unable to get it to work.

Anyone have anyideas

I looked at a program for an holiday letting company site I did 2 years back ... I was a free system that showed availability and allowed people to book.. requiring back office confirmation to accept and display the booking. This was a daily view not an hourly view but it may be a version there I did not see... can't for the life of me remember what or where it was (the client did not take it in the end) ... will dig around my notes and see if I can find it.

Thanks for that though Jont, this is a a single person appoinment booking system, basically need to load about 10 diferent choices and people can pick what they want then the time and day they want.

Its for the Wife, trying to drag her into the 21st century, proving harder than i thought actually, i have built her a nice little site (well i think its nice anyway LOL)

As it doesn't need to be anything over complicated and isn't going to be hugely busy, could you set up timeslots as products, or products with choices and associated products and use stock control to monitor them?

You could perhaps modify the "show choices as out of stock" in the AUG to show timeslots that are already booked?

OK so it wouldn't be a "realtime" database but, unless you expect it to be heavy traffic, then would simply being able to download and upload, when an order/booking came in, be sufficient to update the site?

OK i did think about this as an option but to be honest it seemed like a load of work, basically i need a calender for the year made of products and then forever changing slots, obviously to book offline appointments aswell

And your right it would not be overly busy, actually not at all really, but i was also hoping if i went down the databse route i could at a later date update her diary aswell so she does not double book. I know i am thinking miles ahead

but i am open to solutions / ideas

I have found a piece of software and am struggling to set it up, it has been tested else where when using the localhost as the mysql server i get the error message Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

i can use the pinbrook mysql url but then the application does not seem to run

any suggestions

OK sorted now, had to manually update the configuration files. the software is a pile of crap after all that

I can belive there is not a piece of software out there, the only ones i can find are full blown shop packages and all im after is a simple appoinment scheduler online

ok anyone out there capable of building one if so whats the damage, if you want information drop me a line
