If you wanted to buy some ink cartridges would you rather be presented with a list of printer makes and then printer models or a list of printer makes and then cartridge numbers?

If you are searching online, chances are you have the printer next to you and therefore, Manufacturer > Printer Model has got to be the best way surely as long as you see an image of the product.

Sometimes, you just have the old cartridge with you and you want to be sure that you are getting the same one - rather than the wrong one being sent out.

i search by make then model and see what they have, mainly because many toners come with long life cartridges now days and sometimes ordering the same cartridge model number is not the best option just MO

Few people know their cartridge part numbers.

Thanks, that's good enough for me. It's how we have planned it. Just wanted to make sure it's what most people would want. There will be a facility to search by part number but it will be mainly divided by printer models.

Spot on - you need to see ALL the cartridges for just one model on a page, including long (ie normal) life, which are rarely the same as the ones that come with the printer, and value packs of more than one cartridge
