to password your web stats area or not, that is the question

about a couple of weeks ago, we password protected our stats area (because we could)
now, we have realised unwittingly, that google analytics doesn't interpret the stats any more (obvious really)

so should we password the stats area yes or no,

and inside GA, is there any settings anywhere that we can put in to say "here's the passwords you need"

As you haven't had an answer to this I suggest you contact Google to ask them if there's anywhere to enter a password.
