    Hello David

We have corresponded before on this camera:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Canon-Power-Sh...80601093a22886

Long since discontinued by Canon but unique in still having a vocal and enthusiastic Canon user group. It's nicely over-engineered and lens is the professional quality which you won't find elsewhere.

Do some background reading and you will find that for the job needed you can do little better.

As you can tell I am am still an enormous fan - any questions do please drop me a line.

    Regards

    Nigel

Ended up getting a Nikon D60, but after a few hours messing about realised I needed a better macro lens that would have been another £300 so ended up getting the G9 as well.

Have to say the Canon G9 is amazing
      Thanks

Or you could have bought a set of 52mm close up filters/lens to go on your D60 for about £20.

Yep I could have but reading up now everyone says you need the macro lens as all our stuff is photographed about 1-2 inches from the end of the lens.

Oh well our son likes the Nikon anyway.
              Thanks

I'm only jealous. I keep my eyes on all those nice DSLRs coming out but know I don't really need one.

My current object of desire is the casio F1. Not a DSLR but I like the idea of those 300 fps videos.

The close up lens work well but quality does suffer, especially when stacked, and results can be a little soft... as always you pays your money and takes your pick.. it depends on exactly what you need to do and the quality required. For web work the close up lens is probably sufficient considering size and monitor resolution.

Yep - it is a very fine line between "need" and "want"
