    expert advice needed

    Hi all

i need some expert advice from our IT experts in here

our laptop has started playing up seriously. for the last few days it gave me several times the blue screen of death accompanied with dumping of physical memory...

format the c partition this morning and then i have tried to install 3 times the windows. each time the laptop seems to loose power (it is connected to the mains charger as the battery is long gonne).

forgot to mention that after the crashes it took ages for the laptop to boot and i have found that some of my files became corrupt (possibly because of the crash)

imho there could be several faults in the laptop that are causing the issues.

    1. battery & charger are pretty much gonne
    2. hdd is for the bin (pretty much)
    3. laptop is overheating (possibly because on the fans has died)

now, is it worth it for me to take it to repair (warranty has expired) or should i look for new PC / laptop?

also if i go for the second option can someone tell me which caddy to use to plug the laptop HDD to the new PC to extract all the files i have on the second partition?

P.S. i was looking at this PC http://www.ebuyer.com/product/141198 . opinions needed

Dump the old one and get a new one.

Almost any small caddy will do for your old drive - I picked one up a little while ago for £12. You will need a 2.5inch one. Ebay has some sometimes for about a fiver.

without adequate cooling your laptop is overheating. you need to replace any damaged case fans. pop her open and do the dirty.

You need to stress test the mainboard and the RAM.

              use this tool:
              http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

              to check the ram.

once you get it stable and staying on, lose the hard drive and buy a cheap one off teh intarweb:

              good luck commander!

                forgot to mention:

after a fan check and fix, you might still get bad crashes.

if this happens, then heat damage has screwed the mainboard. sell it as spares and repairs on ebay, and be truthful about the faults.

you'll get 40 quid for it. someone will buy it for the screen.

                  ooohhhhhh Gabe....

                  thanks for your help.

i think you probably spot on with the overheating. it think the laptop is overheating and then looses power (for some weird reason)

after i get my new pc and transfer the stuff across i intend to open it
