AVG 8 Messing Up Stats and Using Bandwidth

that also accounts for an increase in bounce-rates

we've been trying to work out why there's an increase in people "looking at our page but not hanging around"

just been speaking to my ISP, he's telling me that f-secure anti-virus and scanning engines now treat AVG8 as malWare and starts to throw up messages when detected

Not very often that avg companies get at each other, but to take this step must say something about the AG8 issues.

Been using AVG8 for a while and not had anything like this happen, will keep an eye on things though

Thats the problem it's not the user that sees the problem.

The problem is that if a user has link advisor enabled in AVG8 (which it is by default) then every link is is checked on the target site and the caller (AVG) is seen as an IE6 browser call. This both completely messes up hosting site stats as well eats bandwidth on the host server.

The local user may also see some performance issues with the additional link checking but on faster connections and broadband speeds this may not be noticeable to them.
