    v9 site on flash stick

Has anyone tried placing the live site directory onto a mapped flash stick?

can't see why it wouldn't work. A mapped flashdrive should work in the same way as a C and D drive split.

I always use to run actinic on a d drive back in the days when both data and exe where in the same folder, i've also run it with exe in crogramfiles and data on d

That's what I am thinking now v9 has released the site shackles for Vista. Now to see if I can split the sites directory to have some on the c: and some on the x: drive (probably a wish too far)

I wonder also whether the flash stick could be moved between PCs (ignoring multi-user etc for the moment), ie have the stick nominated as the site directory on both PCs (having imported the site first into the "second" PC), then just make sure that Actinic is closed before the stick is removed and taken to the other PC?

That was my thinking - the transfer throughput may be an issue though!

                LOL.

I could even the game and install "EntireSectionList" into every layout.

I'll give this a go over the next few days. Some recent sticks are very fast, and we could also consider cards designed for video and hi-res photography use. If it works well it could help security (ie don't leave customer details in a fixed PC) and flexibility - we could work on design and management in different locations. There are other ways of dealing with these, but I like this one, it's straightforward.

I tested version 9.0 on my network ethernet connected via a switch drive and it ran B+ ok if that helps
