Until they "confuse" your account with someone else's with the same password, thereby handing control of your domains to that other person (who luckily didn't notice) for the two weeks it took to persuade them that there really was a problem.
    That's control??

    Use 1&1

LOL - It's funny how everyone has varying experiences, maybe it is just you get the wrong person, maybe we have different expectations.

One thing i have noticed the larger the company the worse customer support / quality of support seems to be.

I'm not fanatical about 1&1, and latterly we have been using Webfusion (who use 123-reg for domain services) because they are UK based, but we have used 1&1 for several accounts for about 5 years and we have had very, very little to complain about, both in terms of service and support (plus they are the best value more often than not). And they say they are the biggest in the world.

Most importantly, they have never COCKED THINGS UP.

Hey, don't take my word for it:

IXhosting are certainly the biggest something in the world, we just haven't figured out what yet.

                        I wouldn't dream of it.
It might be some male bonding thing and I wouldn't want to get in the middle of it...

That graph of web hosts does seem to be rather Uk centric.

This one http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/...ob=RANK&oo=ASC at least explains how they're ranking hosts. 1and1.com appear to be 5th (and .de are 20th .co.uk are 24th).

Many of these 'hosts' are just hosting parked domains so 1and1's claims about 'active' websites might be valid.

IXwhoever, are 45th on this basis.
