A long time skype advocate, I came across SIP in the week and i've been looking into it lots since.
SipGate give you a free 0845, 0870 or local number which recieves calls and you can make outgoing calls by topping up with credit - like skypeout.
The numbers connect to any sip client such as xlite and will tie in with asterisk and other sip products.
This seemed like a find worth sharing - esp for small businesses / individuals.
