I doubt any worthwhile company would let non employees into the data centre for security reasons

Someone told me (I think it was from Buffalo) that the larger the hard drive the more chance of failure by a big %, they suggested that 160gb is the most stable. Dont know how true it is but only last year.

I have Bumpsy, Jont, Darren, You, Mal and Gabe. Do my friends only count as half friends or do you know something I don't?

I do apologise Lee, I hadn't resalised you'd become so popular in such a short space of time...

Thanks for the info Chris. The security issue had crossed my mind, but I was hoping maybe we could post a hard drive for one of their emplyees. I'll look into the hard drive size issue - good tip - cheers

I heard that too Chris, i have always purchased PCs with 80GB max until recently where i have upgraded to a 160GB. I think the bigger you have, the more crap you fill it with. I can happily run all I need on 40GB, it's the backup servers where i want capacity personally.

Not sure what this guy can do needing that kind of reliable storage, sounds like a music or video site.

He hasn't .. it has taken him years to piss everyone else off ... only the resilient few stick around (mainly to wind him up)

I have a machine at home with 40gb which happily holds all v7, v8 & v9 clients data (and dual boots for a v8.n version) ... I am ruthless with purging crud that accumulates if left.

Snapshots are the worst data eaters, followed closely by family photos.

Upgrades between patches are a bitch ... check the Actinic site folder to see how much they are generating.
