Vista, Failure to Start Boot Disks and a major Headache...

if you have no install disc you should have a partition on it with a restore option
if you can change to drive C:

cmd prompt > cd c:
dir/w ( shows folders width ways)
i would then cd d: to see if you have a partition with a restore option in

then i would copy c:\ my documents ( or whatever it is called) d:\tempdoc

or remove drive into an external hd case and back data up and resinstall Os

BTW i have an external hd case here think i used to sell them for arround £6 plus postage

However, in a cruel twist of fate my brother's new laptop arrived today with a Vista OS CD in it...
