I see this domain problem almost every week and I'm very tired of it tbh. She is in the beat position now and if she makes compromises it will come back to bite her big style. Spend some time doing research and then protect your name. Don't even publicize your domain name until you have the trademark there are too many carpet baggers out there

Don't use hyphens or 'wrong' spellings to get the desired name. (Eg. Newz instead of News) - there's far too much of that kind of crap on the interwebs.

When it comes to branding please go and have an in depth look at these people. They really get it and take you from first landing to order and follow up e-mails in the same 'despairing' vein.
Having a brand new business is the ideal time as others have said to make the 'brand' or the company name stand out from the crowd. Please don't let your sister waste this opportunity.

Dr E. L Kersten is a marketing genius and built it all around K.I.S.S!
Get on his 'wailing list' it's an education in speaking directly to his customers.
Seriously go look at everything they do in the company of your sister and try and get her to see the real power of branding BEFORE she builds a company.
It is all but impossible to build a successful identity in a very vibrant and competitive market after a company name has been set in stone at companies house.
IMO it would be the best Christmas gift you could give your sister!
good luck
