    My Dells don't like Actinic!

I bought 2 new Dell Dimension E520 PCs just under 2 years ago (Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz, 2MB RAM, XP Media Centre, now up to SP3) which were fine until I needed to upgrade Actinic sites (one of the PCs used to do upgrades OK but doesn't now). The upgrader hangs when processing the Perl files.

Now, as well as the upgrade problems, I've just done a 10,500-line product import, and the site is now unusable - it takes ages to click from one product to another to start off with, then that speeds up to something approaching a normal speed, but Actinic crashes as soon as I click on any menu item (File menu, etc.). This also happened when I did a 650-line test import initially but it settled down eventually. I got a message about running out of resources when it crashed.

Actinic Support have looked at snapshots at different times, but have never been able to find a problem, so I'm wondering if it's to do with the way memory is being handled - does anyone have any ideas?

I use nothing but dell's and doubt this is the problem. I recon the problems are more with actinic and the installtion / upgrade procedure

      Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz, 2MB RAM,
My first PC had 2MB RAM. Back in 1990.

(sorry, I know it's not relevant and bound to lead to more off topic discussion. I just couldn't resist. If I could help on this problem I would.)

OK. More on topic. What are you upgrading from / to and how are you doing it? Is this via a snapshot import?

It's any upgrade, e.g. from 7.x.x to 8.x.x, 8.x.x to 9.x.x, or just a simple patch upgrade. It's the same whether I open and upgrade an existing site or import a snapshot.
