    Very true Malcolm.
I know of another company who got stung by this exact issue. Their designer feel foul of Getty Images' royalty free statement (I think) and assumed RF meant they could use it. 4 years later an 8 page document from Getty landed on the company's desk demanding a four figure sum for breach of copyright.

Seems to be quite a common practice for these stock image sites...

Seems you've already been given the best advice already - cut your losses, remove the offending image(s) and apologise wholeheartedly.

Anyone been sued for failing a Copyscape scan yet? This world's a joke - we got serious complaints from using images on our site which the manufacturer sent to us on cd-rom after requesting the images. Despite the fact they manufacture and sell the product to retailers and many of those images are still used on competitors' sites to this day - yet we've never had any issue with this company in over 20 years and still don't - with the exception of their 'it' department. Nope, but I have three cases against other people pending.
