    www-4-motorcycles.co.uk New Design

    Hi,

I'm looking for a developer who could redesign the navigation on www.4-motorcycles.co.uk

At the moment I have about 4000 products listed on this site but i feel the navigation is letting it down and we are not getting the max sales.

Im looking for some one to redesign the layout.

However, I have a limited budget of approx £200 for a redesign.

    Interested?

IMHO what you need is a dynamic menu

there are plenty available but they may be "heavy" in loading

you should not need a designer to implement the menu

Darren have you considered using Norman's Collapso menu? It's a very painless installation, provided with instructions for installation and modifying - very much worth the minimal £25 cost.

Changing the navigation will have little or no effect on sales - you need to look at changing to single product pages to increase sales IMO

It may also be worth looking at the order of your sections.

I would move them around a little and get accessories at the bottom. What do the majority of people who come to your site want? Get those sections towards the top of the list.

Google Analytics has a nifty overlay feature which allows you to see, as a %, where people are going from the page you are viewing. The lower sections at www.denbigharmysurplus.co.uk see less than 2%, which until recently included Ballistic Body Armour @ 1.4%. Since moving it to the number 2 spot it currently sees 3.9% of traffic. Clothing gets 18% of click from the home page. Now what that tells me is that most visitors are here for clothing and/or people are lazy and home in on the top few section. Either way I'll be moving them around based on my findings.

Sorry, I disagree with your comment....

People cant be bothered to scroll through hundreds of sections. They want a quick root to what they are looking for. My current design houses 4000 products and section upon section upon section.... Nav is a key factor...

Thats in my case - may be not others

Correct which is why you need single product pages so they dont have to use the navigation - they will arrive on the correct page in the first place.

Most of my pages and products are optimised so i appreciate what your saying. However, Im more thinking of people who are browsing the shop and not looking specifically for one item .

                      Enjoy ;-)

I just had a thought... Don't worry I was sitting down

Would it be worth listing products by manufacturer too? You could split up your Top Level Sections (Search Forum and KB) and have all of Yamaha's bits and bobs under one roof. IYSWIM?

That way your customers know straight away which Section to go to first and then drill down respectively.

Hey Rich, another great idea thats 2 in one day

                          Well 2 more than me

                          Ill give it some thought....

I dont want to do too many changes as it may upset my rankings...

However, i do need to do something even if it doesnt actually bring in more sales and just makes me feel better....

I must be able to do something with these 20,000 hits a month im getting
