I think thats because the alternative is simply buying the latest edition?

In some cases its cheaper to buy cover than pay for just the software licence

Whats your views on this thread, well, at least on Cover and the costs Jonty?

I think if you treat is as a combo of support and upgrade the price is OK. The way they worded the last request could have been handled far better, particularly in light of the global recession - taking a sabbatical from support should be available with a contingency to prevent people re-buying and getting immediate help and no upgrades if no continuous cover (or a discount is 1 out of 2 years between).

I may be unlucky but on the handful of times I have contacted support over the years they have eventually come back with "could not replicate" and no fix provided - so it was either a 6 month roll back or a live with it situation. Not terribly great either way.

Standard versus Premium

I just called re an existing ticket. Was told that I was speaking to Dean but he couldn't help me because he was a premium supporter. They will call me back when they have a standard one free. Will let you know how long it takes - it was pretty quick - approx 20 mins
