The embarrassing thing is - the checkout procedure has barely changed in 10 years. LOL. All the old sites I looked at still use the Java Applet for payments, was this the only payment option short of 'CC details sent separately'?
I agree it is embarrassing that the checkout hasn't changed since v3. however v3 did have PSP's too, and straight SSL for downloading. the java applet was a popular option as it meant actinic was pretty well out of the box with no extra cost (assuming you had a merchant acct).

i remember this being quite unpopular, due to heckling i think it was removed roundabout v5

      I like this one:

especially the 'Product Bestsellers' panel on the front page.

I did the tweak that calculates the made to measure blind prices for Sanderson but I'd never noticed that carousel effect on the front page until now. Cool, fun and useful!

The Product Best Sellers is a nifty little feature. Shame the home page weighs in just under the 1mb mark - presumably their market must be using the ~60mbps Japanese internet speeds Aesthetically pleasing, but almost useless without at least a Broadband speed service.

I think a lot of that page weight is the Flash and that loads asynchronously after the other page content. Customers will see nice spinning placeholders so they know there's more to come.

I never noticed any delays and I'm on 512Kb only.

Johnty did a re-design of my Internet Workwear Site, which I am quite proud of, haven't had time to fully work on some products yet but the fresh look and all the tech bits are johns handiwork

Sure beats the boring old Yellow and Green, and seems to be bringing in more sales

Much much much better Chris. Good work jonty!

Its getting quite clear to see now how the enhancements for designers introduced in v8 are really coming through now with much better looking actinic sites. At last the template legacy is dead

Nice site Chris, looks much better, good work Jonty.

Looks like V9 has nuked your close button on lightbox though, you need to add it into additional files with V9 as it's not as clever as V8 was .

I didn't think your old site was particularly bad Chris, but the new site looks great. The 'Tell a Friend' slide feature is a very sleek addition. Component layouts look awesome. Checkout looks neat. All round very user-friendly - consider myself as impressed

Well if you want the same effect but with a much lower size penalty there is a nifty javascript called 3d Carousel that works with jquery. The original code from the web is a bit flaky but after some simple modifications I now have a carousel working for new products in Actinic, and the wheel mouse doesn't cause the picture size to vary! Updates automatically whenever new products is updated.

One of your links is not working.

                          Beesleys

also I get the next> and change buttons in checkout just slightly cut off as if the middle section is too narrow.

                          Nice improvements on site

                            Looks Good

I did spot a couple of URLs you may want to update

                            internet-workwear.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Embroidery.html

                            and my favourite:
                            internet-workwear.co.uk/acatalog/____strong________span_style__font-size__16px__color___ff00ff______Sale_Accessories_____span_________strong____.html

A couple of images are also missing on internet-workwear.co.uk/acatalog/Embroidery.html

P.S Chris those embroidery font names look a bit familiar to me, the name of your software doesn't start with a "C" does it.

Just pottering about, yes, that link works!

But also, Chris, on my connection, the site is a bit slow to load - those big images, particularly the second one in the header. You may want to consider this (not that I'm an expert).

Thanks for the links, so busy the last few months we just never seem to find the time to check everything out and as soon as we do we find new problems, one thing with Actinic you never get on top of a site and can then leave it for as few months.

We also have another 6 sites to update and launch a new one selling clogs next month,
