Does anyone actually type these days?

Just a quick round up of how people produce copy on their computers.
    • Do you two finger type, as I do ?
    • Do you type properly. As I am learning to do ?
    • Use speech recognition. As I am learning to do ?

The reason for asking is that I just done a couple of test articles about 500 words long using my current 'two finger skills' and it takes me almost as long to correct them as type them .

It seems to be a generation thing IMO. I'm yet to meet a 30+ yr old that can touch-type. My mother was a typewriter 20-odd years ago and could type 'til the cows come home. Then the 'Qwerty' setup became the norm and she's back to two-finger typing (at best!), haha. I'm the only one that can type with more than 2 fingers in the office, coincidentally I'm also the youngest

A friend from Orkney tried to use speech recognition software for an online game and it couldn't recognise his speech, LOL.

I thought all the cows were too lazy to go home

The question should be who can still write using pen and paper? Blimey this that hard work nowadays!

The hardest part of that is finding them both!

            I can type proficiently.
Only downside is that I am noticing my handwriting is getting worse and worse.
I've made a (belated) New Years Resolution to handwrite more actually as I'm getting concerned at the state of my own writing.
I deliberately use notepads/excess overprinted paper/scrap paper now for things I would have once done in Notepad/Word.
More wasteful, paperwise, I suppose but I consider it to be a good cause (and I do shred/recycle!)

My wife learned to type many years ago at college, she can still touch type and does regularly on her laptop, but for me its just two fingers even though I spend most days working at a keyboard.

i personally dont touch type but i do you most fingers

as in i useabout 3 or so on each hand to type but not in teh correct manner ther all over the place but it gets the job done

handwriting was always bad but i find due to filling in documents all the time i use black and write in capital

must stop it if im going to help my kids at school

I'm not sure how I type so I'm watching as I do this.

Dammit - it's just the two index fingers most of the time!!!

However, I can unerringly hit #~;)[]{}$&, etc without looking down.

Don't know how you are learning, but my eldest is dyslexic (why did they make that such a hard word to learn?) and he is learning to type using Englishtype senior (recommended by his tutor). He's already 90+% accurate and he's only been doing it a week or so. I was a poor 80%! D

I do that, too! I thought I was the pioneer of the three finger method....

I have mastered the location of the "back delete" button with my typing skills

does anyone else find the garmin sat nav incredibly difficult to use as it doesn't use qwerty? letters are in alpha order - it drives me mad

and no i can bearly use pen and paper any longer
just looked to see how many fingers i use, - its 2, i would have sworn it was more if i had had to put money on it. Sadly i was taught to touch type.
