If Sir Breakalot recommends something, then I will take his word it's been well tested (rumour has it Which magazine wants him)

Regarding Satellite, 56 k Modem and second ASDL line then still reliant on local exchange and BT which makes them not independent, where as 3g is a total independent system.

Virgin line and a BT one for me, both wireless networks always on and i can see either. I actually have 3 but that's a completely different story of a major balls up by me. On the very few occasions Virgin goes South, BT always stays up, job done.

i have a mobile, tethered to my laptop with bluetooth and a fast 3g connection.

i use a proxy, and in the event that the internet goes down, not only can i connect, but anyone on my lan can also use my proxy.

i'm on 02/simplicity plan, with the 'unlimited' internet bolt on.
