Benifits of server

Can anyone please advise if there is a difference in speed or other benifit in using a server for actinic or just using a networked computer using 1 gig switches and cables

No need for other software to be shared apart from Actinic and each computer in exsisting system has its own printer so no sharing there

Assuming server and exsisting master computer have same speed etc

I guess it is a question on the speed of the server software compared to XP Pro to speed the bits around the system

Just like to speed Multi User Multi site up if possible especially changing between sites on the slave computers

Would a top end multi core processor speed up actinic at pressent on a intell core2 at 2.4ghz?

i cant think of any bonus.

as long as the computer is clean and isnt running vista. your main issue is probably speed of network, then ram, the speed of hard discs.

you'll get best performance if you remove a load of services from the pc that you arent using. media related ones, and anything non-related to your actinic task.

this is all just ideas mind, i have no idea if a server edition will actually work faster. try it?
