    Woolworths New Website

So Woolies (Shop Direct Ltd now) have launched an online store (no not Actinic) selling some of their famous ranges. www. woolworths .co . uk

I find it interesting to critique a new store of this nature to perhaps learn some design tips.

It's an interesting site. I see they have three stores and three checkouts unlinked, and different checkouts at that. You can't buy from one 'department' and then add something from
another and checkout once. Why would they make such a decision?

    Clever Pick-n-Mix page.

Anything to learn from this new site?

    Any other comments?

Their terms and conditions do not follow the DSR ,in particular that the customer must return the goods to them (most of us probably have a simular statement) but not correct and especially for a large company

Are you sure about this Chris, i know its going to open another can of worms but i have never read the DSR as requiring me to collect the goods?

I believe Chris is right. The DSRs don't say you have to collect them, but if the customer chooses not to return them (as an example how can a customer be expected to return that new 3pc sofa suite they don't like?) then you should arrange collection at a reasonable* charge which can be deducted from the refund provided you cover this in your terms and conditions.

        * Reasonable: not the exact phrase I'm sure but I can't be ***** to go and look it up.

if i honest i follow the DSR's the way i read them and make decisions on a day to day basis. Normally i do more than required unless i know the customer is being a complete arse then i stick to them.

like someone returning a kite because they broke the spars when they crashed it - apparently quoting "Not Fit For Purpose" & "Its clearly a Manufacturing Fault"

I only ever use it in a 'broken' context but I'm sure that'll do nicely. Thank you.

Regarding Woolies site, the navigation is not exactly borked but it's not very good. The flash bit's are unintuitive and the rest works with 'filters'. If I want to find something I'm not applying filters. I look for the right department, find the section I need and then start looking at what products they have.

I find it confusing. I really pity any customers they might have.

              3/10.

Opps I am wrong the dsr state

"By saying in your terms and conditions that consumers must return
the goods to you if they cancel a contract under the DSRs. If you do
not say this in the contract and you want to collect the goods from
the consumer, you should make this request in writing or in another
durable medium available and accessible to the consumer."

A verry hard to understand fully document, I think most will agree, to many if's and but's

I looked at it yesterday and the navigation DID seem borked, actually.
I went into one section, checked out the dropdown subsections..thought "sod it" and clicked "show all whatever" and was presented with completely different products!
Was probably just being flooded on 'opening day'

So if you state in T&C that the customer must return goods to you if they want to cancel you can enforce it.

but if you omit this then technically you must collect?

but i can see one rule being sensible for small items delivered by post, and another being necessary for sofas etc

Well i wouldn't be so straight if you hadn't asked, but boy have you turned into a miserable sod lately. Everyday should be a fun day, not just Friday.

You don't need a day off, hang around and loosen up. At 11.15am we will be doing forum keepfit, bring your leg warmers and headband and let yourself go.

See you there unless you are square.
