    Too many 404 errors

    Hi All,

A bit baffled here, we have had our new Actinic site running for about a month. As a precaution, I created a custom 404.htm file in case the old site (a marketing site) was still showing up in the search engines.

However, this custom error page is dominating the the site statistics by several fold, I can't understand how this could be.

Does anyone have any ideas, as I am very worried the majority of visitors to the site are getting this error.

    Regards

    Andrew

Search engines and other sites may still have the old page URL's. Create redirect pages (use your error log) from your old site to the new site.

Thanks for the reply, how do I go about creating redirect pages for my old site?

What has baffled me even more, is that I checked my site stats for error status and I have had relatively few 404 errors, probably attributable to search engines holding the old urls, but the 404.htm has been viewed a huge number of times more, any suggestions?
