A fast growing lawn is just as i want it, it takes time to cut for sure, but it also repairs itself very quickly then. It took me almost 3 years to master my front lawn, i have now turned into one of the most anal grasskeepers there are. Damn those leatherjackets!
You could move house, checking that the homeowner has a regular mowing schedule in place before you take the keys. I mow 5 times a fortnight, it's a recipe for success for a good lawn. Strip it, relay it, care for it will be the best bet. If you can't do the care for it bit, then membrane and a few ton of gravel .
Neighbours cut theirs every day Looks like a bowling green........
Bloody hell. No wonder my grass is knackered. Once a fortnight if it's lucky.
Just wait 'til junior starts playing football. That'll soon wreck it.
Mike
If you cut more than a third of the height of the grass off (1/4 in the height of summer) in any one cut, it gets all stressed and goes pale and thin. If you cut 3 times a week, it grows thicker and stronger, but better than anything else is the shear lack of cuttings, so less mess.
Basic equation:
Cut 2.5 times a week = 30 min cut, 5 min clean up.
Cut once a fortnight = 60 min cut, 60 min clean up and a crap looking lawn
No contest, but it has to be all or nothing with grass i have found out.
PS Mike - Travis has been playing football on it for 3 months now, makes no difference i assure you, mine's like a carpet despite his best efforts to trash it.
Have taken onboard all the advice (constructive or not) that was given & ordered the brushcutter from one of the Actinic online reseller. Hopefully should arrive tomorrow & will see how it goes. So once again, thank you all.
