    Anyone Had Swine Flu Yet?

Just heard our next door neighbours have been diagnosed with this, we get to hear a few days after spending half hour out the front with them having a water fight at the weekend.

Anyone on here had it or know of anyone who has had it yet?

It's spreading fast now it seems.
I've not heard of anyone close getting it as yet mind.

Dont know anyone, but the cases have trippled in the last few weeks. I do have a little insider information on these sorts of things for the south east but obviously cant disclose any of it here

Seriously though lee, keep an eye on little one

I imagine the warm weather is keeping the thing thriving.

He's had a runny nose and a bit of diarrohea for a while now, gonna get him checked, all a bit worrying really. He gets the same when a bit under the weather or is teething, so might be nothing, symptoms seem somewhat normal you could say.

Nice to hear it was top there agenda

From what I gather as long as you're clean, don't reuse tissues, bin them straight away (tissues not children) and wash hands you should be relatively okay.

Tell me about it, they didn't even tell us, our friends over the road whose son plays with their daughter told us. They've got a 2 year old too.

FFS, they should be letting everyone know or at least keep themselves out of the way for the mean time.

Girlfriend got tested after going to the doctors when we returned from California with a sore throat/head - the Doctor said "Why the hell did you come to the doctors, you should be in hospital" (Exact words)

Went to hospital, they did some tests and said stay indoors until we notify you - 3 days later and starting to feel better, yet no reply from the NHS. Went back to the hospital and was told they had "forgot" to send the samples to the Lab for testing.

This was just at the time when Swine Flu started emerging in the UK - way before days where you were getting hundreds of new cases per day.

It's in a lot of the schools round here, but now the containment effort has ceased the schools don't close down like they did at the start. AFAIK it's not in my sons' school but it's only a matter of time.

The younger brother of one of my son's friends has 'suspected' swine flu. The results were supposed to be back yesterday but nothing heard yet. (Probably similar to Grant's experience).

What I find odd is they gave them tamiflu for the younger brother but none for the rest of the family. I thought even if we'd moved past the 'containment' phase they were still trying to keep the immediate family free.

This is in NW London, so maybe they've just given up on it.

My friend has a disabled daughter and attended a conference for families with this particular disability at the weekend. One of the other attendees was diagnosed with Swine flu so now they and all of the other attendees are on red alert for it, her daughter has been given Tamiflu as well because she is high risk due to the illnesses she already has. It's horrible to think about.

UK swine flu can no longer be contained
Government moves to 'treatment phase' as health secretary says infection rate could reach 100,000 a day by end of August

Never mind the end of august. Just wait until the schools go back in September (my son's school broke for the summer holidays yesterday). Once it's widely in the community, schools are the ideal place for it to spread. Kids and hygene just don't go together.

Mind you, the numbers don't stack up somewhere. If it's 100,000/day at the end of august, kids back at school will probably increase the spread rate tenfold, so we'll all have had it by the end of October. Just in time for the vaccine to arrive!
