I considered it but thought I'd prefer one of those little notebooks - too small to replace my laptop and too big to replace the blackberry. Oh well...

      Excellent Ta Grant.

TBH i cant decide what to get, at the mo i use a 12" tosh as my main machine and 7" asus for walkabout. Only got email on blackberry.

But when i upgrade BB in August will go www on it too. So is 3 internet portable devices overkill? Will i use a netbook once i've got BB with www?

if i go larger than 12" on my main machine will i create a need for both netbook and BB

Suppose i could go 17" lappie, 10" asus, BB - then again 17" is not portable for me so i might as well bring my desktop pc out of hibernation. and go for new 19" screen/with old desktop, 10" asus and bb

      Decisions...

We bought two laptops (Sony VAIOs) loaded with XP three months before Vista was due out with a guaranteed upgrade. The upgrade went OKish (took about 8 weeks for the discs to turn up) but the PCs were virtually useless from that point on, kept crashing etc.

Eventually we reverted them to XP and they have been fine since. In your position I would find a way of limping along until you can buy a laptop which is fully designed for and comes loaded with 7 rather than go the upgrade route.

just in case anyone else is looking, if you buy a compuet with visat/ xp with free upgrade to windows 7, note that windows 7 will require a full install/ overwrite of your hard drive. There is no simple upgrade, all data on your previous system will be lost so has to backed up first.
XP to vista was a simple upgrade, ie put in a disc and it will do the rest.
Windows 7 will not keep any off your system settings, programmes, data, images etc.

Note this only applies to UK versions of windows 7.
