Are you looking for a job?

This is such a long shot, I know but it costs nothing to ask....

If there's anyone out there with good, solid experience in building Actinic shops (who's also looking for a job obviously) then we'd like to hear from you as we have a permanent position available at the moment in our Oxford office.

Email jobs@oxlink.net with your CV and a portfolio link if you're interested or if you just want more details.

    Cheers.

It seems a pretty long shot to get anyone that is good with actinic, who also lives in your area and does not have a business of their own doing this. Why not consider contracting out the work instead, actinic experience would need to be taught in house in my experience, it's such a peculiar beast of its own, you only bother to learn it, if you intend to do it as a business.

The reverse is you then teach someone how to use it and they then go off and start their own business doing so. Tough decision i guess, contracting out to an approved partner and someone you know of would seem best IMO.

      Hi Lee,

Cheers for your reply. I knew it was along shot but it doesn't hurt to ask anyway. You never know - someone may just have been working for a web design company with these skills rather than owning their own business.

We've had plenty of people apply who are out of the area (where the companies they worked for have died), it's getting someone in Oxfordshire that's the tricky bit.

We don't want to contract things out if we can help it.

I know what you mean Angi about not contracting out, i guess it's a great time to pick someone up if there is anyone around. I know there are quite a few designers who pass on work to others for a referral fee or get other designers doing white label work for them. That might end up the lesser of 2 evils if no success, good luck anyway, great to see a company employing I must say.

Well, you're right, when we've exhausted all other avenues we may end having to contract things out after all. I'm still hoping to find that one special someone though (forever the optimist!).

We can't tempt you away from your own business I suppose? We've got some brilliant views over rural Oxfordshire (if you like that sort of thing) and blinds over the windows (if you don't).

We're looking for another web designer too and it always surprises me just how many people think they can actually do web design just because they can spell it!

I also own an IT headhunt firm, don't worry, i'm not pushing for business from you

You probably could find someone if you are willing to put in the work. Are you on linkedin at all? if you are, you might be surprised who you can find in your directory fo contacts.

You could always try asking actinic if they know of anyone from companies that have gone bust. They might be able to help, although it would be a breach of the data protection act to pass you a cv, but a name and a wink wink nudge nudge goes on all the time!!!

a seach on google itself surprisingly brings up cvs and profiles of people. found some amzing people that way.

don't bother with agents though, a hard find the actinic skill as its rare. you would expect to pay a search consultant at least 20 to 25% of salary to find you someone.

Cheers for the tips, Jake. We've actually found one or two interesting people now and I've got 6 recruitment agencies doing leg work for me (I doubt we'll get anything from them but it keeps them busy). Found no one useful via Google though.

just out of curiousity whats wrong with people out of the area, assuming they have said they want to move

Nothing wrong with the people but we've recruited outside of the area on previous occasions (people haven't stayed) and I'm not sure potential applicants realise just how expensive Oxford actually is before they come here.

I was brought up just up the road from your office, Victoria Road and at age 18 having one of the best paid jobs (Rover) in the area the nearest house I could afford was in........Rugby, 50 miles north!!

Now in Whitby with very high prices and secondhand peanuts for wages the nearest my kids will ever be able to afford is somewhere near Glasgow!!

Could they not be a home worker, and you just shovel down the data required once a week and let them do the work.

Just thinking, that way they don't get involved in the company business, but just work on the sites as required, maybe visit office every couple of weeks. ex graduate possibly

Save on office space and maybe lower salary
