    World Football Challenge

OK, this may be coloring outside the lines a little, but I thought I would ask.

The World Football Challenge is coming through here in a few weeks.

The game in my area is Chelsea FC vs Club America (Mexican League).

I'm guessing these are exhibition matches. In American sports, they rarely send the first team to these type things. Can some of you guys comment on the quality of the rosters? Since world class soccer...I mean...football is not exactly covered extensively here, I can't seem to get a straight answer about this.

    Many thanks!

According to the Chelsea Official webiste they will be sending the first team
    http://www.chelseafc.com/page/Latest...601666,00.html

"Chelsea, of course, will bring a full-strength first team squad and with the quality of the opposition, and the backing of our partners, this series of matches will be the best preparation and the most high profile we have played in America.”
Whether all the top players will play the full 90 minutes is a different matter.

Needless to say, if Chelsea even send half their first team out onto the park, they'll destroy Club America in an embarrassing fashion.

I caught an LA Galaxy game a couple of months ago out in LA against Kansas City, they play football ("sack'er") a totally different style of play than back here. Although the English game is a much faster paced game than the Scottish game, the US game was very slow - though it was 30-odd degrees C.

Nice to go to a game and not hear religious and/or moral outcries though

George - I'm sorry to say, I do not follow the MLS very closely. Our MLS club, FC Dallas, is an easy 30 minute drive from here and I really should pay more attention. TBH, "soccer" is about the 5th or 6th sport down the list when it comes to coverage here.

I played in the Dallas and Ft. Worth adult leagues for years, but had to give up the game around about ten years ago when I lost the ability to heal quickly. I still have an appreciation for a well played game, and occasionally will catch a Premiere League (?) match on cable.
