Looking for a Product Like Actinic

Have Used Actinic and love it, but I was curious if anyone knew of anything that works like actinic that I could use for a Hobby Web Site that has no need for Buying functionality.

I have a database of books, which I want to be able to list in a similar way that actinic lets you, and design the page layouts, but I have no need for selling and don't want to buy anything as it is for a Hobby.

Have tried using Wiki software, but I want to be able to do the work offline, and then upload pages at my own leisure.

Can anyone recommend anyting, other that trying to build a site from Scratch?

You might be able to find an Actinic LE version (was free on some magazine cds in the past on occasion) around somewhere. It is limited to to a small number of products and can't be upgraded but would be suitable for your purpose.

Otherwise you need to look at some CMS software.

Thought about the LE version, but the limit was to 'Limiting'.

Any suggestion on what CMS software that could run offline like this, and be as easy and flexible to use as Actinic?

I've not used it myself, but I came across the less than hopeful sounding 'mrsite.co.uk'

The reason it caught my eye, was for £19.99 a year you can get a basic site up and running and that seems to include the cost of a .com and the hosting and email.....(which is cheaper than I thought I could do myself).

They have a 50 page version for £35.

I've not studied it in great detail and I'm sure some will dismiss it out of sight, but I thought I'd revisit-it if I needed another small, no ecommerce site.

These 2 packages have limited bandwidth etc so you'd need to see if that was ok for you (perhaps they make money charging for extra bandwidth?)

if i was you just go buy a computer magazine with a free dvd, it is bound to have website software for free.
pc pro is normally quite good.
Failing that any magazine about building websites.

If it is a hobby then you have time to learn the software from scratch.

If you want to run a business then you pay for what you get.

if you're looking for a cms, then you're better of going DIY.

try wordpress. everyone seems to like that.
