Are you a registered bank? If so then it could be genuine.

If it would make a difference I could try and register as one. Is it hard to do?

You just have to lend money you don't have and then put your hand out...

Mike something is not quite right - i checked the card number and this is not a real number. I think you should be careful with this one, seems a little fishy to me

              Now you're confusing me.

I don't have any money to led out. How can I lend it out if I don't have it?

Yes, but you wouldn't expect them to put the real number in the email would you. Someone might see it and use the details to steal all my money.

Should I edit the number just in case? I'd hate everyone to know my card number as it would take me a while to use up all that money.

Simple: you borrow it from somebody else first.

Back to the original question: I don't think its genuine. If it was, it would have asked for your date of birth and mother's maiden name as well.

I'm sure they could follow up and get that information later.

Why is this stuff never easy? Someone here in the office has just said that if I register as a bank the government won't let me pay myself all the money and will want to tax me on it. This is crazy as it's coming from them in the first place.

All I want is my money. Why does it have to so hard? There's too much beaurocracy in this country.

I tell you what you could do. You could write a reply letter asking if they could elaborate on some details and stick an invoice in it for 35 quid?

It is nice when a genuine offer turns up in all the junk I get. I'm pretty sure it's genuine as I can't imagine Gordon Brown sending out these kind of emails as a joke.

My head's spinning from all the excitement and confusion here. I need to go and lie down for a bit.

At least he didn't use that horrendous thick marker pen to write a letter for you.

You may not have understood all the details...
