BT Core network failure

Just had an info text from UKFast:
"
BT Core network failure

We have been advised that BT are currently suffering from a core network failure in London.
"

This will of course affect a lot of people even though our servers may be working fine, so may explain any drop in traffic experienced ...

interesting report, not heard anything but im guessing this will be the telehouse exchanges.

Glad i moved my severs two months ago, decided london was probably not any better these days, maybe even slower with the demand for bandwidth

It lasted about three hours, strange we could get on some sites but not others

I was always under the impression that the web was self healing if any part failed then the data found another route and the only thing that should stop you was your server going down, not a small part of the network

Can anyone explain in laymans terms, how we were able to use BT Broadband for some sites but not others
