Actinic has a list of them, the internet has millions and my local yellow pages has dozens -- Web designers, but try and employ one - hopeless. I went through the Actinic partner developers list- nearly all didnt reply, 2 did, 1 would build a site but not work with me on mine -the other sounded keen, I drove 50miles to meet him and handed over a snapshot, for 9 weeks now I have always been the 'next job on the list' . The lost sales because I havnt been able to update site far out weigh what I was going to pay him. I've tried local people, cant find any that either work with Actinic software or want to - they all say, change. There must be a someone out there who can help me. I dont want 'cheap' but do want fair. Any ideas if such a person exists.

I am sure there are people willing to help, but you need to define "fair." Your site needs a huge amount of work, and no-one is going to take that kind of job on if your definition of fair is a couple of hundred quid. Put another 0 on the end and you might be getting somewhere.

You could of course take the bull by the proverbials and do the site yourself. Download a copy of v11, have a play around. It's not as hard as you think. You could have a basic site using a ready-made template ready to go in a matter of days.

I would suggest you write down your full requirements with as much detail as possible as a list on the forum and ask members to quote if they are able to fit in with your time frame

Most people probably find it easier to work on written quotes rather than somewhat vague phone calls as it enables them to calculate a reasonable time frame for the work, the more solid the requirements the greater lack of guesswork

Thanks for the replies - just to answer a few of the points, lee - I'm on V11.
Guccij- I could never get as far as talking money - small or large or fair,most of the actinic partners didnt have the courtesy to even reply, so couldnt find out - I can understand they may just have looked at my site, thought 'diy job' low budet. I hope to get what I pay for, i dont believe they all will only do £2000 jobs, I dont want £2000 of work for less, but I think I have been caught prevouisly by paying £500 for £200 pounds worth. In every other field of my buisness I can discuss with clients, maybe compromise, but work with them.
Chris, Im sure you are right, thats what I want to do, Its just finding someone who wants the job, perhaps theres so much work about and mine is an undesirable upgrade !

You sound really nice, so I don't know why people didn't respond. Sometimes when people ask for help they are at the end of their tether and so come across as angry, scary people but I can't see you like that from this post.

Did any designers on here get a request for help and can say why they weren't able to help.

Lee is a designer, perhaps you should give him a call, if he's busy, send me an email and I can give you some other recommendations.

Hi Frank A specification would be the best way to go then you can get accurate quotes.
