passwords, logins etc are becoming stronger and stronger nowadays, and the quantities of combinations to remember are becoming a bit silly.
you potentially end up using the same password on everysite in the hope that you can at least remember every site.
what about those sites that ask you for the 4th letter, then the 12 letter, you end up having to count out the password on your fingers etc etc
or demand a mix of numbers, letters, upper/lowercase and a mix of punctuation
and those sites that demand that you renew the complex password every 30 days.
and because of the long list of sites, you end up sending/and keeping an email and simply storing it as plain text in outlook.
anyway, six months ago, I bought myself a usb fingerprint reader (this one is capable of 64bit windows 7 and the're not easy to find)
although a bit clunky, it works well, allows the main windows pc to be locked with a fingerprint, allows multiple logins at the same website (pops up a menu offering choice 1 or choice 2 etc) even allows you to encrypt an area on the main pc and use the fingerprint to login to that. there is still other issues to sort out.
but there is still the issue of keeping a master list of every password, encrypting them, keeping them in a safe (no good when you are on holiday though)
so the question is,
what strategies.
usb stick and an encrypted programmes to record a list.
remember the first letter of you favourite nursery rhymes
MaryHadALittleLamb
lock the paper copy in the safe
put them in the mobile phone under a dummy name
come on then, what is a GOOD strategy ?, what encryption programmes/encrypted usb sticks work well?, what doesn't?
