    Symantec advises disabling pcAnywhere software

I saw this on the BBC website and thought I'd pass it on. I don't use PCanywhere but I'm sure I've seen it discussed on the forum.

Security firm Symantec has warned customers to stop using its pcAnywhere software.

The company confirmed that "old" source code stolen by a hacking group had exposed vulnerabilities in the remote access program.

An advisory note on Symantec's website explained how to minimise risks for customers who used pcAnywhere for "business-critical purposes

I don't use it either, but from the looks of it there are still plenty more who have pcanywhere installed.

They did issue security patches for pcanywhere though, those who have it should do all the updates to be on the safe side.

About pcanywhere, I was wondering something. I came across some rumors about some new personal media cloud software or service, audials anywhere it was called, for easy access to files anywhere and some other stuff like that.

Dunno why I got this impression but I think it might have something to do with pcanywhere. Might this be possible?

Ahem, don't mind me, I just found out what's the deal with that audials anywhere thing according to these guys.

It's got nothing to do with pcanywhere. Guess it was just not some bogus rumor after all, idk why but that audials anywhere cloud reminds me of private trackers since it seems that the filesharing feature will be invitation based.

As far as I recall private trackers were safer than usual p2p filesharing sites, right?
