    1&1 issue with index.html file

    Hi all

Just a heads up to say that 1&1 are having problems with some of their servers. The index1&1.html file has been replaced with their default page.

It has only affected our site but happened at some point yest eve.

Sol: rename the index.html (or delete) and upload a new one and all ok.

Which page exactly? Why would anyone have a page called that in their site? Do you mean the site homepage or the acatalog index.html?

Hi it is basically the home page. When you upload to one and one it is called index.html

One and One randomly changed the file so that it was showing their default site. I just had to do a website refresh and it re uploaded the file and was all fine. As soon as I phoned they knew immediately what the problem was so it had happened on a number of their sites.

        We had the same

We had the same thing happen at the same time - affecting only the homepage, overwritten with default.html, saying that our domain had just been purchased!! Our customers who saw it thought we had gone out of business and sold our domain name.

Unfortunately didn't spot it quickly, as orders continued to arrive that hadn't gone via the homepage (Google ads go straight to products). Customer contacted us. I refreshed site (complete refresh) which removed their default page and put our index.html back in place. Just wish I spotted it sooner.
