and don't forget Wimbledon.... everyone becomes a tennis fan for two weeks, then rest of the year don't give it a second glance.....
Seriously though, we get a delivery of pet food etc once a week, big lorry with 18 pallets on it. Few years ago it was full to the roof, nowadays there are still 18 pallets but no where near as much on them......so each delivery drop is down significantly.
Sad fact is most normal people have less money and the things we do buy have all gone up.
Our sales have been down throughout the summer, for no obvious reason. It always puzzles me as to why people seem to behave on mass. There are some things that would account for mass same behaviour, such as school holidays, weather, payday. However, none of these factors are significantly different from previous years. We normally expect a drop-off in orders when the weather is warm and sunny, especially if the first after a period of cold, wet weather, but this has not been the case this year - we have had plenty of cold wet weather.
I sometimes wonder whether somebody has posted something derogatory on a forum, but not all our customers would visit the same forum - our customers come from widely different groups of people.
As regards whether we have made changes to our products or service, these have continued to increase/improve and are excellent, with some prices and carriage charges going down, so no explanation there.
So I am bewildered, but there is some consolation in that others on here are experiencing the same.
Crap weather will have urged more people to go on holiday than would be normal, in any one week there are millions away, school holidays, olympics etc. Unless you were selling rain hats, umbrellas, holidays or olympic tickets, i'd expect a drop in sales. Site I run has seen the same trend, it's just bouncing back now. We had a 2 day window with no sales at all and frantically looked for something broken, next day it went mad. The 2 day window coincided with the first 2 days of proper sunshine we had experienced in about a month, so i was kind of saying fair play to them.
June - bumper month
July - 150% of June
August - 60% of July
